SURFILMUSIC revisits the era that shaped Jack Johnson’s creative life, tracing his evolution from surfer to filmmaker to musician. Centered on the making of Thicker Than Water and The September Sessions, the documentary explores how these films created with friends like Kelly Slater, Rob Machado, and the Malloy brothers redefined modern surf storytelling and revealed Jack’s emerging artistic voice. Through remastered footage and new reflections from the original crew, the film highlights the ocean driven community and collaborative spirit that quietly sparked Jack’s music career and continues to influence his work and values today.
