Jack Johnson & The Moonshine Conspiracy: Film Announcement

Jack Johnson and friends returned to the Arlington Theatre in Santa Barbara for a special night celebrating two of his iconic surf films, Thicker Than Water and The September Sessions, both newly remastered in stunning 4K.

The evening reunited familiar faces from those classic surf adventures, including Kelly Slater, Rob Machado, the Malloy Brothers, Shane Dorian, and Brad Gerlach, who joined Jack on stage to share stories from the road. A standout moment came when Jack and the band performed The September Sessions soundtrack live, joined by G. Love, Hermanos Gutiérrez, Todd Hannigan, Xoco, and Rob Machado.

It’s been a pleasure working on Jack’s upcoming film SURFILMUSIC over the last year, whose trailer premiered during the event. The project has been a true collaboration, blending decades of surf history with new music and stories that carry the same spirit forward.

Huge shoutout to our longtime collaborator Wyatt Daily, who led the remaster of Thicker Than Water and The September Sessions. Wyatt has been instrumental in building out the archival side of Blue Note, helping us bring historic footage back to life with care and craft.

The celebration continues this weekend in Laguna Beach, where the Coast Film & Music Festival will host two sold-out nights featuring Thicker Than Water and The September Sessions alongside live performances by Jack Johnson & Friends.
